Singing for adults – all levels welcome
If you live up on or around Werneth Low, my Marple studio is just down the hill – a quick drive through Compstall. It’s close enough to make regular lessons easy, which is where real progress comes from.
Singing lessons with me are relaxed and practical. We’ll look at how you breathe, how you find and hold a note, and how to get a fuller, freer sound, always through songs you enjoy. I specialise in adult beginners and intermediate singers in contemporary styles.
Not ready for the studio yet? Online lessons are a great alternative and work remarkably well.

I really couldn’t sing in tune and thought I was a no-hoper but Mags reassured me over the phone that it was possible to learn. She’s a brave lady taking me on! I’m starting to recognise when I’m in tune now whereas before I hadn’t a clue; and whilst I’m not the best of singers, I can definitely hear the improvement in my tuning and voice strength.
Mags is an absolutely amazing teacher. I can’t tell you how nervous I was on my first lesson but Mags put me at my ease and very slowly we have found my voice. A year later I have done 3 public performances and even enrolled on a week long singing course.
She is kind and funny and incredibly encouraging. So even if you are convinced you have no voice, you may just surprise yourself!
57 years of being too scared to use such a wonderful instrument and Mags had me singing confidently in no time.
Thank you Mags. You are a HERO!
Mags has transformed my voice from what could best be described as a window-shattering strangled cat to something very passable! We’ve tackled some fab power ballads and I can now sing my heart out in the car without my passengers demanding ear plugs. I absolutely love my sessions with her and feel like I just keep on improving. She is a fantastic teacher, exceptionally perceptive and very lovely to boot. A vocal miracle-worker for sure!
The car, for most people. It's a short drive down through Compstall to Marple.
Contemporary styles: pop, rock, folk, jazz and musical theatre. I don't teach classical singing.
